13-foot Shumidan altar was completed and placed at Mangyoji Temple (Shingon-shū Chisan-school, Niiza City, Saitama Prefecture). After applying bace coats with sabi urushi, the altar was layered on cloth with urushi, and then a middle coat of urushi was applied. Finally, the altar was polished with roiro and the entire process was carried out using traditional techniques and materials.
