Lighting installation work was completed on 20 November 2021 at the Gokokuji Temple, the grand head temple of the Buzan school of Shingon Buddhism. This lighting design is based on the design of the lighting installed by Suiundo at the Tsukubasan Omido Betsuin of Gokokuji Temple, the grand head temple of the Buzan school of Shingon-shū. The design of the lighting features the aoi crest, which is the symbol of the Tokugawa cla, and the tsugikokonotsume pattern, which originates from Gokokuji Temple, as a watermark on the blades of the lighting. The nine connected circles are derived from Keishōin, the mother of the fifth Tokugawa shogun, Tsunayoshi, who vowed to build Gokokuji Temple. Gekkōden was originally the guest hall of Nikkoin, a sub-temple of Mii-dera Temple (Sonjoji Temple, Shiga Pref.), but was relocated to Gokokuji Temple in the early Showa period and renamed Gekkōden. It is a historic building designated as a national important cultural property for its architecture from the Momoyama period.
