We placed a Shakyamuni Triad statue at Fusaiji-Temple (Kenchoji-school) in Tachikawa City. This Shakyamuni Triad statue consists of a seated Shaka-nyorai statue as the principal image, flanked by Monjyu Bodhisattva (riding a lion) and Fugen Bodhisattva (riding a white elephant). This Buddhist statue was carved from Kiso cypress wood by Kujuku Imamura, a contemporary master sculptor. The principal image, Shaka-nyorai, is finished with urushi- lacquered gold leaf, and the skin is finished with gold powder sprinkled over gold leaf to create a skin-like surface. The two Bodhisattvas, Monjyu Bodhisattva and Fugen Bodhisattva, are richly coloured with their robes, lotus pedestals, lions, and white elephants, representing the two Bodhisattvas who devote themselves to saving all living beings.
