In February 2020, the main hall and guest hall of Tsukubasan Omido, Shingon-shū Buzan school grand head temple Gokokuji , were completed.
Checking the placement of the principal image and ritual implements in the workshop with a ceiling height of 8 metres (Suiundo Matsudo Workshop)
The Shumidan is finished in black lacquer with Roiro-urushi and measures 10 Shaku,
while the Denryu-style Gomadan measures 4.5 Shaku.
The Doban measures 7 Shaku and the Tenpyo-style canopy measures 8 Shaku.
On 10 December 2019, the Betsuin Tsukuba-san Ōmido of the Shingon-shū Buzan-school Grand Head Temple Gokokuji Temple held its Jotoshiki (the roof-laying ceremony).
Suiundo is responsible for the architectural design and construction of Tsukuba-san Ōmido, as well as the production of the solemn ritual implements.
Traditionally, construction is carried out by a construction company, and Buddhist altar shops design and produce ornamental Buddhist altar fittings to match the architecture.
Planning that creates harmony between architecture and ritual implements
The Sengen-senjyu-Kannon(Eleven-faced Thousand-armed Kannon)), the principal image of Tsukuba-san Ōmido, is currently being repaired at Suiundo’s Matsudo workshop.
Here, the principal image of The Senjyu-Kannon Bosatsu(Thousand-armed Kannon Bodhisattva) was actually placed on the wooden base of the Shumidan, a Doban and a model of a canopy were hung from the ceiling, a wooden base for the Gomadan was placed,
Although the balance between the actual size of people and the principal image was confirmed at the design stage, visual confirmation further increases reliability.
Such design plans are unique to Suiundo, which handles both architecture and ritual implement design.
Original ceiling lighting fixtures will also be installed in the outer sanctuary, but considering the effort required to install lighting fixtures after design and construction, Suiundo’s planning is excellent in that it allows for proposals regarding the design and position of lighting fixtures and even the location of electrical outlets at the design stage.
