Rinzai-shū Kenchoji-school Fusaiji-Temple(Tachikawa City)Statue of Shakyamuni Triad

We installed a Shakyamuni Triad statue at Fusaiji-Temple (Kenchoji-school) in Tachikawa City. This Shakyamuni Triad statue consists of a seated Shakyamuni Buddha as the principal image, flanked by Monjyu Bodhisattva (riding a lion) and Fugen Bodhisattva (riding a white elephant). These Buddhist statues were carved from Kiso cypress wood by Kujuku Imamura, a contemporary master Buddhist sculptor. The principal image of Shaka Nyorai is applied with gold leaf and finished with gold powder sprinkled over the gold leaf to create a skin-like texture. The statues of Manjusri Bodhisattva and Samantabhadra Bodhisattva are richly coloured, with their robes, lotus pedestals, lions, and white elephants, representing the two bodhisattvas who devote themselves to the salvation of all living beings.
