Suiundo remakes (rebuilds) old Butsudan altars to suit the customer’s requirements.
we would like to introduce a remake of an old zelkova wood Butsudan into a new one, making use of the existing materials while adding a modern touch.We rebuilt the Butsudan into a new one. We will explain the parts that have been reused from the original Butsudan and the parts that have been newly made.As for the main body of the Butsudan, we cleaned the shelves inside (innner sanctum) and repainted them.The main body has been redesigned.

When actually remaking a Butsudan, we conduct a detailed survey of the Butsudan and hold meetings to discuss the details.In addition, this time we received wood from a customer, which was used as recycled material after being sawn.

The lower corner sliding door in C is made from provided Japanese zelkova wood.

Assembly after sanding and painting
After temporary assembly, the shitaji (foundation) is painted, sanded, and then finished with a coat of paint. The final colour is a deep, antique colour.

The remake of the Butsudan is now complete. The dimensions are 190 cm high, 95 cm wide, and 77 cm deep. The back panel of the altar is finished with real gold leaf.We have newly produced sutra boxes and sutra tables.
