This is the work of peeling bark from raw timber. Normally, this work can only be seen at a sawmill. This scene is of bark being peeled from timber sawn at the Suiundo Aomori factory, and is unique to Suiundo.
Suiundo reduces distribution costs by purchasing cypress, zelkova, and Aomori hiba directly from state-owned forests through bidding, and has a large supply of raw wood and dried wood that is used in the construction of temples and shrines.
